siniGang is a clothing brand that decided to combine Filipino culture into modern streetwear. The brand name comes from a Filipino dish called “sinigang,” which is pronounced as see-nee-GAHNG. As a Filipino living in America, I often heard the name mispronounced as sinn-ih-gang, which I thought was funny, but also thought there was a play on words with the Gang being emphasized. 

Gang could mean different things. The dictionary says that the word Gang means an organized group of criminals. However, Gen Z has turned the word Gang into slang to refer to a friend or group of friends, so I settled with the name “siniGang.” 

I created siniGang to dedicate a clothing brand that combines the modern streetwear that Gen Z likes to wear with the Filipino roots of my background. I loved the streetwear style seen today, with the oversized t-shirts, hoodies, and baggy sweatpants and jeans, but I wondered “How can I implement my culture to my outfits?” I came up with many ideas and designs, and through trial and error, the first designs of T-Shirts and Hoodies were released.

siniGang has just started and is looking to make an impact around the world. We are looking forward to expanding our brand and spreading Filipino culture to many.
